The Department of Plant Sciences at Central University of Himachal Pradesh was
established in 2017. At present, the Department is offering M.Sc and Ph.D. Programs
in Plant Science (Botany). Some of the thrust areas of research in the department are:
- Ethnobotany, Cytogenetic, Plant Diversity, Seed Technology, Plant Tissue
Culture & Plant Biochemical Engineering
- Economic Botany, Vegetable Grafting and plant Protection, Hydroponics,
- Mycology and Plant Pathology
- Natural Plant Chemistry and Toxicological evaluations
- Plant Molecular Biology, Genetic responsibilities of stress tolerance in crop
plants, Medicinal Plant physiology
- Plant Biotechnology- Micro-propagation and Plant Metabolic Engineering
