HIMALAYAN HORIZONS: TECTONICS, SUSTAINABILITY, AND RESILIENCE FROM THE 1905 KANGRA EARTHQUAKE TO TODAY (HTSR – 2026) will be held 4–7 April 2026. The conference examines the tectonic framework, seismic hazard, and resilience challenges of the Himalaya with special focus on lessons from the 1905 Kangra earthquake and modern advances in instrumentation, remote sensing and geodetic observations.
The event seeks to bridge historical records and modern science to improve understanding of earthquake occurrence, mechanisms and damage scenarios — gaps that persist because early events were recorded with limited instrumentation and in difficult terrain. With denser instrumentation and satellite observations today, the conference will highlight advances that improve preparedness for sustainable and resilient futures.
