Welcome to the School of Legal Studies, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, a vibrant and emerging centre of legal education situated amidst the serene and majestic Dhauladhar ranges in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Rooted in the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity, the School aspires to nurture socially conscious, professionally competent, and ethically grounded legal minds.
It gives me immense pleasure to share that from the current academic session, the School is commencing its LL.M. Programme and proposes to introduce the integrated five-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) programmes, subject to the approval of the Bar Council of India. These programmes are envisioned to provide students with a strong interdisciplinary foundation, combining legal education with humanities, social sciences, commerce, and contemporary professional skills, thereby preparing them for diverse opportunities in litigation, judiciary, corporate practice, public policy, academia, and emerging areas of law.
At the School of Legal Studies, we believe that legal education must extend beyond classrooms and textbooks. The School is committed to providing rigorous legal education that combines strong theoretical foundations with practical exposure. Our curriculum is designed in accordance with the Bar Council of India Rules of Legal Education, 2008, with emphasis on Clinical Legal Education through Moot Courts, Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing, Professional Ethics, Legal Aid, Mediation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. We strive to create an intellectually stimulating environment where students develop advocacy skills, research aptitude, ethical responsibility, and leadership qualities.
Located in Dharamshala, a city known globally for its spiritual, cultural, and ecological significance, the School offers a unique academic setting where reflection, dialogue, and learning flourish together. The proximity of the institution to District and Sessions Courts, the Himachal Pradesh High Court and its benches, tribunals, and other legal institutions provides students valuable opportunities for internships, court visits, legal aid activities, and professional engagement.
