Department of Nano Science & Materials

About

The Department of Nano Science and Materials, established in 2024, is dedicated to advancing education and research in the rapidly evolving field of nanoscience and materials engineering. The department currently offers an M.Tech. program in Science and Technology of Nanomaterials, with specialization in Semiconductor Materials and Devices. The department also offers Ph.D. program in Experimental Physics and Materials Science in cutting-edge research in areas such as semiconductor devices, thin films, advanced materials, and energy systems.

The department is in the process of establishing a state-of-the-art research laboratory equipped with advanced instrumentation, including Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD), Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM), and Thermal and Electron Beam Evaporation systems etc. These facilities are being developed to support high-quality research across diverse domains of materials science.

At present, the department has seven faculty members actively engaged in cutting-edge research areas such as semiconductor materials and devices, thin film materials and technologies, composite materials, and energy materials, including green synthesis approaches. The faculty members have secured a prestigious ANRF-PAIR research grant of ₹10 crores to undertake advanced research projects.

The department actively promotes research collaborations with premier institutions, including IITs, NITs, and several national and international universities, fostering interdisciplinary research and innovation.
